Suspect killed in crash while running from police

A suspect running from police in Dunn County was killed after crashing his car into a Wisconsin State Patrol Cruiser early yesterday morning.

Shortly before 1:30 AM, a Dunn County Sheriff’s deputy began chasing the suspect for a traffic violation.

Eventually traveling into Chippewa County, the driver drove down a dead end where he turned around and and crashed into State Trooper who was also involved in the chase.
The driver of the pursued vehicle died due to the injuries they sustained during the crash, and the passenger in the vehicle was significantly injured and taken to a local hospital.

The trooper who was in the cruiser was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and was later released.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigations is investigating the incident.
