UPDATE: Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Office armored vehicle used to help arrest man in Washington County stand-off

An update to a story we brought you yesterday…

A standoff in Washington County that also involved members of the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office occurred after an Illinois man violated a restraining order in the City of West Bend Monday.

According to police, the man allegedly pointed a gun at the victim earlier that morning, placing the barrel of the gun right on the person.

While investigating the incident, officers found the 41-year-old man’s vehicle at his moms house which is located in a small subdivision between West Bend and Allenton.

Officials said that due to the possible use of a firearm, tactical units were sent to the area. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office asked the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office to respond with their armored vehicle as the incident developed.

Around 3:30 p.m. the man voluntarily left the home and was taken into custody.

Authorities said that a heavy police presence was needed, not only due to the nature of the incident, but also compounded by the need to rotate officers from exposure to the cold temperatures.
