Two children missing from capsized sailboat found deceased – father still missing

Tragedy has come out of the Door County area after a search for three people that went missing after the sailboat they were in capsized in the Green Bay body of water somewhere between Oconto and Door County.

The 32 year-old Suamico man and his 3 and 5-year-old children went sailing in the 18 foot sailboat Saturday morning when storms with high winds moved into the area. The two children were found approximately five hours later in the water deceased, about a mile from where the boat was recovered. The father is still missing. The US Coast Guard was in the area with a boat and helicopter searching for him.

In addition to the coast guard, The Door County Dive Team, The Wisconsin Air National Guard, sheriff’s offices in Door, Oconto and Brown counties, Oconto Fire and Rescue, Gibraltar Fire, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources are all assisting in the search.
