False alarm calls reported at two northeast Wisconsin hospitals
Officials in northeast Wisconsin are working to figure out if two separate false alarm calls at two separate hospitals are related.
Shortly after noon Friday, August 9, 2024, Theda Care Regional Hospital received a call from a person saying they were in the parking lot with a gun and they were going to be entering the hospital to cause harm.
Officers arrived on the scene and secured the area and established a perimeter. Working closely with facility staff, officers conducted a thorough search of the premises and reviewed security video of the parking lot but said no threat was found.
It was then learned that a similar situation had also happened at a Green Bay hospital at around the same time. In that situation, Green Bay Police responded to what they called a security emergency at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, located on Greenbrier Road. Upon arrival, police found the report to be false and no threat was found.
Police in both jurisdictions continue to investigate the false calls.
