11 fire departments battle Fond du Lac County house fire Monday night

A house in southeast Fond du Lac County sustained major damage Sunday night, August 25, 2024, as a result of a fire.

At approximately 11:20 pm, The Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a 911 call from a resident at N1662 Double D Road, about 3 miles east of Campbellsport, saying there was a fire in the attic.

A deputy with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene and could see smoke coming from the roofline of the house.

Campbellsport and Eden Fire Departments along with Campbellsport ambulance were initially paged for the fire, but the call was turned into a MABAS fire call, which means mutual aid is called in from multiple other departments in the area. In total, 11 different departments from Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Dodge and Washington Counties all assisted with the fire.

Fire officials determined the fire is believed to have started in the attic earlier when a circuit breaker tripped.

All the occupants of the house were able to make it out safely and the house sustained fire damage to the attic and the contents of the attic, as well as water and smoke damage to the rest of the house.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.
