Robert “Bob” Kahl

Robert “Bob” Kahl, 84, of Fond du Lac, died on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born on December 18, 1939, in Madison, the son of Wadell and Mary Kahl. On September 16, 1961, he married Deanna Joan Sharer in Verona. Bob bought a local insurance agency and moved his family to Fond du Lac in 1977. Bob and his wife were co-owners of Jackson Kahl Insurance until his retirement in 2007. Bob served six terms on the Immanuel-Trinity Church Council, taught Sunday School, sang with the worship leaders, sang solos, and served on various church committees. He was a past president of the Fondy Quarterback Club, volunteered many years with Fondy Food Pantry, and served on the boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Solutions Center, and Fondy Basketball Club. He coached his sons for many years in little league, basketball, softball and flag football. Bob sang with the Senior Center Music Choir and was a member of the Community Theatre where he appeared in three musicals including his role as Jacob in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He also volunteered many years as a guide and served as co-chairman of the ice cream social at the Fond du Lac County Historical Society’s Galloway House and Village. He was a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of Fabulous Fond du Lac and was a Lifetime member of Fond du Lac and Dodge County Home Builders. His greatest passion was attending his grandchildren’s athletic and musical events, always making them feel special as he praised their accomplishments.

He is survived by his wife Deanna, one daughter Joelle (Todd) Drew, Fond du Lac, WI; two sons Mitchell (Laura) Kahl of Fond du Lac, WI and Robb (Jennifer) Kahl of Monona, WI; seven grandchildren, McKayla Drew, Cassidy Kahl, Kyle Kahl, Kinsley Kahl, Kiarra Kahl, Camden Kahl, and Kennedy Kahl; two brothers Bill Kahl and Ben (Debbie) Kahl; one sister Barbara (Bill) Gust. He was preceded in death by his parents Wadell and Mary Kahl; three sisters Mary Ann Kahl, Elizabeth Aebly, and Bernadine Kahl; two brothers Burnett Kahl and Bernard Kahl; one sister-in-law Kitty (Bill) Kahl; one brother-in-law Hank (Elizabeth) Aebly.

VISITATION: Friends may call on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, 20 Wisconsin American Drive, Fond du Lac, WI.

FUNERAL: The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church. Luncheon will follow services in the Church Hall. Committal will take place at Rienzi Cemetery following the Luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in Bob’s name to the Fondy Food Pantry, the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band, or Immanuel-Trinity Building Fund.
