Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s cruiser damaged in low speed chase
A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s patrol car was damaged overnight October 8, 2024, while attempting to stop a fleeing vehicle.
Just before midnight, The Washington County Sheriff’s office advised Fond du Lac County they had a pursuit headed northbound on 41 and it could be in our county soon.
Just north of County D in Washington County, the vehicle hit a tire deflation device that was laid out on the highway, eventually causing one of the tires of the vehicle to completely shred off the rim. South of Highway 28 in Dodge County, the vehicle slowed to about 10 mph and with Dodge County not having anyone near the pursuit, some Fond du Lac County officers headed south to assist. Officers used their cruisers to box the slow moving vehicle in and force it to stop near Highway 28.
While doing this, a Fond du Lac County Deputy advised his vehicle was damaged by the offending vehicle, but there were no injuries. According to scanner transmissions, five people were taken into custody.
No press release has been issued so it’s unknown why the driver was attempting to elude, or what charges may have come to those involved.
