STORY UPDATED 11-4-24 WITH NEW DETAILS
Saturday night, November 2, 2024, was a busy time for Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies.
At 9: 44 PM a Fond du Lac County deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for a speed violation on County Highway G near County Highway SS in the Township of Auburn.
The Deputy activated his emergency lights and siren to stop the vehicle and the suspect’s vehicle increased its speeds and turned off their headlights in an attempt to elude law enforcement.
The deputy pursued the vehicle southbound on County Highway G and then southbound on Youth Camp Road. The vehicle approached the intersection of Youth Camp Road and County Highway S and the driver was unable to control the vehicle causing the vehicle to crash at the intersection into a cemetery.
Both the driver and the passenger were taken into custody at the conclusion of the crash with no incident.
At about 1:20 AM, an officer attempted to pull a vehicle over going eastbound on Highway 23 from County Highway I, west of Fond du Lac.
After turning on the cruiser’s lights and siren, the driver accelerated to near 135 mph in an attempt to elude the officer.
The driver turned off their lights and turned down a dead-end road off of 23 and attempted to hide behind a local business, but the officer saw where the vehicle went and was able to apprehend two people that were in that vehicle.
Then shortly after 2 AM, another officer attempted to pull a vehicle over for a traffic infraction northbound on I-41 at Lost Arrow. Again, the driver accelerated to attempt to elude the officer. Shortly after turning north onto Highway 151, the driver lost control and crashed near Camelot Drive and took off on foot.
After an extensive search of the area for the driver, which included inside the Grande Cheese facility located near by, law enforcement were unable to locate the suspect, however the 22-year-old driver was taken into custody the following morning.
