Former Ripon boys basketball coach arrested on allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor

A varsity boys basketball coach with the Ripon School district is being investigated after allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor surfaced earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Mihai Schnell-Harrison was arrested by Ripon Police though as of now has not been formally charged. A press release from the school didn’t say when the alleged incident took place but said a formal review of the charges is being conducted by the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office.

The release went on to say that Schnell has been with the district as a coach for one year, but records show he was an assistant coach at the school in 2016. Schnell reportedly has also coached at the Waupun and Appleton East School Districts over the years.

The Ripon School District has set up avenues for students that feel impacted by the allegations and need to talk to a counselor.
