Winter Weather Advisory issued for area’s first snowfall potential

The area is looking to see it’s first snowfall of the season Wednesday, November 20, and Thursday, November 21, and the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory because of it. Any snow later today looks to be scattered in nature and dependent on the temperatures as during the day, any precipitation will fall as rain showers, but once the temperature cools later this evening, things should change over to snow.

The advisory comes Thursday morning through noon that day as 2 low pressure systems quickly form and intensify over the eastern US. The two systems interact with each other with the farthest west storm, over lower Michigan, moving southwest as it intensifies bringing in strong winds across Lake Michigan. This puts eastern Wisconsin in a favorable spot for a quick burst of heavy, wet snow Thursday morning.

At this time, there is a pretty fast tapering off of accumulations where its possible one half of a county could see 3-4 inches of snow while the other half sees a trace to 2 inches. As is always the case with winter storms, it depends on exactly where the center of the low goes.

Stay tuned to KFIZ and KFIZ Facebook later Wednesday night for an update on the forecast of this first snowfall and how it may impact your morning commute tomorrow.
