Calumet County Sheriff’s Office makes arrest in vehicle entries

The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in a series of car entries.

In early and mid-November, multiple vehicles were entered at residences near the Firelane area on the north shore of Lake Winnebago in the Village of Harrison, with items being taken from the vehicles.

Through investigation, the sheriff’s office identified a suspect in the thefts. On Monday, December 9, 2024, investigators from the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office conducted surveillance at a residence in the City of Menasha where they observed the suspect leave the residence and drive to a local gas station. There, the suspect was taken into custody without incident and investigators served a search warrant at a residence in the City of Menasha, recovering stolen property.

He was identified as Tristan Backus of Menasha and booked into the Calumet County Correctional Facility for nine counts of theft-moveable property, burglary, and two counts of theft of firearms.
The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office says this serves as a good reminder to remove valuables from vehicles and remember to lock your vehicles, even at your home.
