Triple Homicide suspect Virgil Thew captured in Juneau County

At 12:47 PM Thursday, January 9, 2025, the Juneau Sheriff’s Office issued a statement on their Facebook page that They had Virgil Thew in Custody.

According to scanner traffic, at 12:17 PM a deputy with the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office called out with a person matching the description of Virgil, but the person said his name was Brian Thew.

The officer placed the man in the back of his squad and after a few minutes, the man admitted he was Virgil Thew. The man wanted in a triple homicide in New Lisbon when three victims were found in his mother’s house on December 30th, According to Wisconsin Public Radio, the three were his girlfriend, 33-year-old Elizabeth Kolba, his 12-year-old step-daughter and the girl’s 13-year-old friend. 

A statewide alert was issued for Thew who had been on the run ever since.
