Man shot in arm on west Scott Street – suspect arrested

On Thursday, January 16, 2025, City of Fond du Lac Police Officers safely apprehended a 21-year-old Fond du Lac male suspect on a traffic stop following a shooting in the 400 block of W. Scott Street.

Chief Aaron Goldstein stated, “While the weapon involved in this shooting was an air-powered rifle designed to shoot pellets, I want to be very clear that the seriousness of this situation cannot be understated.  Any firearm, whether conventional or air-powered has the potential to cause harm. The Fond du Lac Police Department is committed to thoroughly investigating this incident, ensuring public safety, and holding this individual accountable for his criminal actions here.”

At approximately 7:22 p.m., Fond du Lac Police Department Officers responded to an apartment complex in the 400 block of W. Scott Street for a report of a male suspect that shot a shotgun two to three times according to the callers. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle before Fond du Lac Police Department Officers arrived. A short time later a Fond du Lac Police Department Officer located the suspect vehicle in the area of N. Main Street and E. Arndt Street based on descriptions provided by witnesses. The 21-year-old driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was taken into custody.

At approximately 7:35 p.m., Fond du Lac Police Department Officers were made aware of a 30-year-old Fond du Lac male at St. Agnes Hospital (SSM Health) that had a gunshot wound. Fond du Lac Police Department Officers responded to the hospital and it was determined that the victim was involved in the shooting on W. Scott Street.  During the investigation it was determined that the victim was shot at three times with an air-powered rifle designed to shoot pellets.  Two shots missed and one shot hit the victim’s upper arm.

The suspect was transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail where he faces multiple criminal charges. The victim was treated and released from the hospital.

The City of Fond du Lac Police Department was assisted by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
