Fond du Lac woman attacked with axe receives life threatening injuries

On Sunday, June 22, 2025 City of Fond du Lac Police Officers arrested a 34-year-old male suspect following a violent axe attack that left a 38-year-old female with life-threatening injuries on Sunday afternoon.
Chief of Police Aaron Goldstein expressed deep concern and empathy for the survivor and her family: “This was a horrific act of violence, and our hearts are with the survivor as she begins her long road to recovery. On Sunday, June 22, 2025, at approximately 2:38 p.m., Fond du Lac Police Officers and Fire Rescue responded to a residence in the 300 block of E. Merrill Avenue following a 911 call from a female who reported she had been attacked with an axe, was actively bleeding, and that the assailant had fled the scene.
Upon arrival, Fond du Lac Police Officers located a 38-year-old female with multiple, serious lacerations to her head, extremities, and back. Officers immediately rendered life-saving care and worked swiftly to secure the scene. The female was transported by Fire Rescue to SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital and then airlifted to Theda Medical Center in Neenah, where she underwent extensive surgery. As of Sunday evening, she was listed in stable condition.
Through intensive investigative efforts, Fond du Lac Police Officers quickly identified the suspect as a 34-year-old male. Officers and Detectives collaborated with multiple agencies, including the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Germantown Police Department, and Fond du Lac County Communications Center to track the suspect.
At approximately 7:00 p.m., the suspect’s vehicle was located near Germantown, Wisconsin. After a brief pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody and transported to Froedtert Hospital for medical evaluation.
This incident remains under active investigation. Charges are forthcoming as Fond du Lac Police Detectives continue to gather evidence and work with the District Attorney’s Office.
