30 years in prison given for inmate who attacked inmate and correctional officer

A man convicted of attempting to kill a correctional officer in Dodge County as well as attacking another inmate was sentenced yesterday to 30 additional years in prison for the two crimes.

In May of last year, William Lasalle attacked Correctional Officer Gregory Oettinger with a makeshift weapon, but Oettinger was able to use training provided to him to defend himself and fight off Lasalle.

Lasalle was charged and convicted of 1st degree attempted homicide in the incident and now sentenced to 20 years in prison.

In addition to that incident, Lasalle was also sentenced to another 10 years prison for the attack of an inmate in the Wisconsin Correctional system.

The 20 and 10 year sentences will be served consecutively.
