Cynthia “Cindy” Miller

Cynthia “Cindy” Miller passed away peacefully at Aurora Hospital in Oshkosh on June 14, 2025, after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer.

She was born in 1950 in Milwaukee, WI, to Charles and Grace Goheen. She graduated from Brookfield East High School in 1968. She took one semester of classes at UW-Stevens Point, then returned home to marry Richard Miller in the summer of 1971. They had two children, Scot and Rebecca. Cindy later earned an associate degree in Marketing from Waukesha County Technical College.

Cindy was well-known in the Forest Mall in Fond du Lac, managing the Afterthoughts/Claire’s store for many years. She also managed a photography store in the mall for a short time.

After her mother had hip surgery, Cindy moved to Minnesota to care for her until her mother’s death in 2007. She then returned to North Fond du Lac.

Cindy was a creative person at heart. She used her marketing degree in the 1980s working for Casper Company, where she designed catalogs and helped organize trade shows. She was also known for her beautifully arranged and artistically styled retail displays in Forest Mall. But where Cindy truly shone was in her personal artwork. She used just about every medium available to sketch, paint, and craft for friends and family. Cindy and her daughter, Becky, spent many hours crafting greeting cards together and were heavily involved in Fun Stampers Journey, where she made lifelong friends. She enjoyed teaching and was certified by Copic Markers as an instructor. In her last two years of life, she and her sister, Laurie, exchanged photos of their artwork daily via text message. The sisters would often spend hours on the phone together while working on their art—especially after Cindy got Laurie hooked on watercolor painting. Laurie will miss her every day, especially their long phone calls and daily exchanges of artwork.

Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Larson Goheen; father, Charles Goheen; and daughter, Rebecca Miller. She is survived by her son, Scot Miller (Bridgett); her beloved grandchildren, Matthew Miller and Dawson Miller; her brother, James Goheen (Lynne); her sister, Laurie Goheen Detviler (Ron); several close friends; and her former husband, Richard Miller.

A private family gathering will be held on July 28, 2025. A gathering to celebrate Cindy’s life with extended family and friends, may be planned at a time to be announced later this summer. Visit www.zacherlfuneralhome.com to send condolences.
