Patrick F. Bowser

Patrick F. Bowser, 89, passed away on July 4, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 29, 1935, to John Francis and Marie Uelman Bowser.

Pat married Joan Busch on August 15, 1970.

Pat taught at Oshkosh West High School; former students would tell him how they appreciated that he was firm but fair. He expected teen-agers to make poor choices occasionally. He didn’t tolerate their misbehavior, but he didn’t judge them for it.

He was committed to the cause of social justice, and he lived that belief as a lead visitor for St. Vincent de Paul. He and his SVdP partner, Gerald O’Connor, brought help and hope to people in need. A member of the Marine Corps League, he marched in the color guard through his mid-80’s.

His love of history was brought to life during his world-wide travels with Joan.

The YMCA was his second home; the library his third. He and his golfing buddy Cliff Vogel lost countless golf balls in the woods and water hazards at Far Vu. And the Green Bay Packers will have to win games on their own without him cheering them on.

Most of all, he loved his family-and we loved him back.

Pat is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Shelby (Brian) McCulley and John (Jen) Bowser; grandchildren, Eamon, Kiera, and Declan McCulley, Fiona and Patrick Bowser; a sister, Kathleen Finger. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mary Deeley, Noel Bowser, George Bowser, and Roman Bowser.

Visitation will take place on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 Fourth St Way, Fond du Lac, WI. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery in Van Dyne.
