“Bear in the air” to patrol Fond du Lac County two days this week

Drivers in Fond du Lac County will have an extra set of law enforcement eyes on them from a higher vantage point Tuesday and Wednesday, July 15 -16, 2025.

The Wisconsin State Patrol will be taking their Cessna style airplane to the skies, searching for speeding and reckless drivers in the county.

The State Patrol says from the air, it’s much easier to spot drivers who are speeding or driving aggressively. When a pilot observes a violation, they communicate with ground-based units to initiate a traffic stop.

The department is announcing the mission ahead of time with the goal to improve safety through voluntary compliance with traffic laws, rather than simply stopping and citing unsuspecting drivers.
