New Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Command Center vehicle to be debuted at county fair

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrival of a new mobile command and communications center which will replace the previous vehicle that has been in use for the last 36 years.

While the previous command center served it’s purpose, the sheriff’s office points out it was put into service at a time before the internet and cell phones were even used, so the upgrade was in order.

Built by LDV Inc. in Burlington, Wisconsin, this command center serves as a command center where law enforcement, fire, and EMS commanders gather to plan, mitigate, and resolve critical incidents that occur throughout our county. Incidents this vehicle responds to include SWAT and tactical situations, water rescues, missing persons searches, natural disasters, significant fire scenes, major crime/crash scenes, and any other critical incident where a significant number of emergency personnel respond for an extended period of time.

This command post also has the ability to be a secondary dispatch and communications center in the event the primary communications center needs to be shut down or evacuated in an emergency.

The public can get a first hand look at the new vehicle at this years Fond du Lac County Fair starting Wednesday, July 16, 2025. The vehicle will be parked on the north side of the Expo building.
