Scott E. Haensgen
Scott E. Haensgen, 65, recently moved to Belvidere, Illinois, formerly of Kingwood, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. He was born in Fond du Lac on July 20, 1960 to Melford and Mary (Bathlazor) Haensgen.
Scott was one of the good ones. He was kind and wonderful.
He loved his daughters Carissa and Alicia beyond belief and they were the most important thing in his life. Scott enjoyed creating yearly traditions with his daughters such as going to the Renaissance Festival for Thanksgiving, ice skating for Christmas, and attending Astros games for Father’s Day.
Scott enjoyed 18 years of marriage with his former wife Kathleen who remains his dear friend. Scott was compassionate and had a passion for life. He was an amazing dad, loving son, a selfless brother, the fun uncle, and the best friend everyone needed. He loved his dogs OJ, Daisy, and Lola.
Scott enjoyed heading north to Evergreen Campground in Wild Rose, Wisconsin whenever he could, with his daughters and Kathleen as well as all of the extended family. Even after his time outdoors, he loved a good medium rare steak and a nice glass of red wine. Scott loved jamming out on the drums with best friend Phil on guitar, blasting Def Leppard, and playing his air guitar for a solo.
Scott was a graduate from Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac. He then moved to Texas and received his Bachelors of Science in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Houston. Scott worked for many different prestigious engineering companies throughout the years, including NASA and Schlumberger.
Scott will be dearly missed by his daughters Carissa and Alicia, both of Kingwood, Texas; former wife and forever friend Kathleen Haensgen of Kingwood, Texas; mother Mary Haensgen of Belvidere, Illinois; siblings Julie (Mark) Schwartz of Fond du Lac, Sherie (Douglas) Adkins of Longmont CO, and Kristine (Walter) Picco of Poplar Grove IL; nieces and nephews Jacqueline (Michael), Ann, and Adam, Joseph, Nicole (Sam) and Calvin (Amber), Donathon, Sven (Trisha) and Alexis (Kevin), Christian Pace; long time best friend Phil Maser; former -in-laws Matt and
Monalisa Pace and Mary Pace; many great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Melford, sister Diane Haensgen, long time family friend Leslie Brockway, his beloved dogs OJ and Daisy, maternal and paternal grandparents and other relatives.
SERVICES: Scott’s family invites friends and relatives to a time of visitation on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Zacherl Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM. A Liturgy of the Word will follow the visitation at 12:00 PM. Burial will take place following the service at Calvary Cemetery.
