Man fires pellet gun at officers after high speed pursuit reaching 130 mph
Tense moments early Monday morning, March 2, 2026, as Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies say a man was shooting at them after a high speed pursuit.
The incident started around 3:45 a.m. when a deputy observed a vehicle pass him southbound on I-41 at Highway 151 going around 120 mph.
The deputy was able to catch up to the vehicle and gave the license plate information to the Fond du Lac County Dispatch Center.
While the pursuit continued southbound into Dodge and Washington Counties, dispatchers moved quickly with the information and found out the vehicle was a black BMW that was registered to a man out of Oshkosh. Additional information was obtained that the man was listed as missing and had made suicidal threats. Winnebago authorities also were able to add that the man had just purchased a pellet style pistol off of Amazon yesterday.
A Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy successfully deployed a tire deflation device at Highway D, striking two of the vehicle’s tires. Soon after the man pulled over and began shooting at the officers with a pellet gun.
Officers released a K9 which was able to subdue the man though he remained combative. At that time a tazer was deployed and the man was taken into custody.
An ambulance was dispatched for the man who had dog bites and for the tazer deployment.
This is a breaking news story and KFIZ expects a press release regarding the incident later this morning. We will update the story with any additional information once we receive it.
