Irene E. Mand

Irene E. Mand, 90, passed away on April 15, 2026 at Hospice Home of Hope. She was born March 26, 1936 in Jericho, to the late Walter and Esther (Freund) Karls.

She married Leo Alois Mand at Holy Trinity Church in Jericho on July 10, 1954. He passed away on February 24, 2019.

Irene worked at St. Agnes Hospital until her retirement in 2005. She loved living on the lake and watching the sunsets. Irene enjoyed flower gardening, camping, traveling and watching birds. She adored and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include six children, Dan (Deb) Mand of Malone, Jeff (Diane) Mand of Fond du Lac, Nancy (Wayne) Schumacher of Fond du Lac, Scott (Michelle) Mand of Shakopee, MN, Randy (Necole) Mand of Virginia Beach, VA and Amy (Noah) Lobajeski of Fond du Lac; nine grandchildren, Tammy, Jay, Melissa, Adam, Kelly, Tyler, Derrick, Alicia and Brett; ten great grandchildren.

Irene is further survived by a special niece, Mary Kay Mand; four sisters, twins, Betty Dziadek of Calumetville and Amanda Socha of Calumetville, Alice Lemke of Pipe, WI and Diane Diedrich of Fond du Lac, WI; brothers, Eugene (Betty) Karls of Fond du Lac, Andy Karls of Fond du Lac, Vernon (Karen) Karls of Fond du Lac, sister-in-law, Virginia Schneider of St. Peter and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Leo, Irene was preceded in death by sister Mae Schmitz and brother Bernard Karls.

Irene’s family invites relatives and friends for a time of visitation at Holy Family Catholic Church, 471 Fourth Street Way on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026 from 9:00 to 10:45 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Irene will be laid to rest with her husband, Leo, in Ledgeview Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The Mand family would like to send a special thank you to the caring staff at St. Francis Terrace the past two years. The family also extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Hospice Home of Hope for the care shown the last three weeks of Irene’s life.
