Part of Western Avenue to close starting Monday

The City of Fond du Lac Department of Public Works has announced part of Western Avenue and Macy Streets will be closed starting Monday, April 27, 2026, for the reconstruction of the streets.

Western Avenue will have a full closure to traffic between Main Street and Military Road. While Macy Street will have a full closure between Court Street and Western Avenue.

Despite the closures, local business access will remain open throughout the project.

Motorists are encouraged to follow the signed detour routes while the project is ongoing. No completion date for the project was given.

The closure will effect one of Fond du Lac Transit’s bus routes. A social media post says route 50 will bypass the construction and it’s normal Western Avenue route by taking Macy Street to 2nd Street to Military, where it rejoins the normal route. Also the bus stop on Western Avenue east of Military will be moved to the west side of Military on Western.
