Road closures in City of Fond du Lac announced

The City of Fond du Lac Department of Public Works has announced upcoming closure of some roads in the City of Fond du Lac.

Pioneer Road between County Highway V and Fond du Lac Avenue will be closed starting Monday, April 27, 2026.

The Fond du Lac County Highway Department, in partnership with the City of Fond du Lac are reconstructing this segment of roadway. The construction includes common excavation, sanitary sewer, watermain, storm sewer, concrete sidewalk curb & gutter, asphalt pedestrian path and roadway, roadway lighting, and permanent signing.

Western Avenue and Macy Streets will also be closed starting Monday for the reconstruction of the streets.

Western Avenue will have a full closure to traffic between Main Street and Military Road. While Macy Street will have a full closure between Court Street and Western Avenue.

Despite the closures, local business access will remain open throughout the project.

Motorists are encouraged to follow signed detour routes while these projects are ongoing.

No completion date for either project was given.

The Western Avenue closure will effect one of Fond du Lac Transit’s bus routes. A social media post says route 50 will bypass the construction and it’s normal Western Avenue route by taking Macy Street to 2nd Street to Military, where it rejoins the normal route. Also the bus stop on Western Avenue east of Military will be moved to the west side of Military road on Western Avenue.
