Jean M. Grosklaus

On April 20, Jean M. Grosklaus, 83, passed into the arms of her Savior and her beloved husband, Wayne. She resided in West Allis and cherished her time spent at Wolf Lake.

Her family was her heart and soul. She was deeply connected to her children and grandchildren and found immense joy in being able to share in their lives. She wrote beautiful cards and messages which showed her unwavering love. She also had many long friendships which she treasured, staying in touch with so many who were important in her life.

Jean found personal satisfaction in careers in real estate, nursing, and in her last employment with the City of West Allis. In her retirement, she was honored to volunteer as secretary of the West Allis Retirees’ Association and was involved with the Wisconsin Coalition of Annuitants. She also found joy in doing things for others, making holidays special, flower gardening, sewing and gifting baby quilts, hosting family and friends at Wolf Lake, reading, watching the Packers, and playing games with her grandkids.

She was devoted to her Catholic faith and put many of the challenges she faced in God’s hands. She was a member of Mother of Perpetual Help Parish in West Allis (IHM) and Our Lady of the Holyland Parish.

She is survived by her beloved children Christie (Tom) Wehner and Craig (Deanna) Conaty. She was a loving grandma to Aaron (Nicole) Wehner, Amelia (fiancé Jacob) Wehner, and Virginia, Michael and Jack Conaty. She considered her first great grandchild, Hudson Wehner, a precious gift.

She is further survived by her sisters Kathleen Maas and Amy (Paul) Carlsen, brother Mark (Harriet Pfersch) Steckhahn, and sister-in-law and dear friend, Karen Steckhahn. She was also blessed to have many special nieces, nephews, and friends in her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, brother David Steckhahn, niece Shelly Steckhahn and brothers-in-law John and Leroy Grosklaus.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Holyland Food Pantry in her memory.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of Villa Rosa Assisted Living for the compassionate care provided and to all those who reached out to her through visits, calls, texts and cards. Thank you also to her West Allis friends for the visits and care provided, helping her to live at home until very recently.

We know how blessed we are to have had her in our lives as she always saw the best we could be and helped us to find that in ourselves. We will miss her dearly, but she assured us that she would always be with us, and the deep love she had for us will remain in our hearts.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 3:00 pm until 4:45 pm, at Our Lady of the Holyland – Holy Cross Church, 308 S. County W, Mt. Calvary, followed by a Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial at 5:00 pm. A private family burial at St. Joe Cemetery will take place at a later date.
