Shawano man killed in Calumet County crash

A 39-year-old man from Shawano was killed Monday, May 11, 2026, as a result of a traffic collision in Calumet County.

Authorities say just after 11 a.m., the crash was reported at the intersection of State Highway 57 and County Highway PP, about four miles north of Chilton.

Upon arrival, deputies found a crash involving an empty dump truck and a Kia sport utility vehicle.

Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the Kia was traveling westbound on County Highway PP and had stopped at the stop sign for Highway 57. The driver then entered the intersection into the path of the southbound dump truck.

The driver of the Kia was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the dump truck, a 72-year-old man from Luxemburg, was not injured.

The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Hilbert Fire Department, Potter Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, and Hilbert-Potter First Responders.

The crash remains under investigation.
