Man taken into custody after hours long stand-off in Ripon
A man was taken into custody in Ripon yesterday after being in a standoff with law enforcement for about nine hours.
Just after 10:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a physical altercation between two individuals, where the victim sustained substantial injuries. Upon arrival, officers secured the area and implemented measures to protect community members and those involved.
The suspect in the matter retreated to a residence and failed to cooperate with a surrender to law enforcement.
As a precaution, a heavy police response was implemented including several units from the Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Office and Fond du Lac Police Department.
According to Ripon Police, the situation was successfully resolved at 7:20pm, when the individual involved was taken into custody.
South Douglas Street between Highway 23 and Jackson Street was closed for several hours while the situation was ongoing.
The incident remains under investigation.
