Roy J. Myers

Roy J. Myers passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026 surrounded by family at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born January 13, 1944 to the late Roy James and Ora (Elliott) Myers.
Roy graduated from Waupun High School. Roy married Lois Tasch in 1973, who passed away in 1995. He married Lucille “Luci” Freiberg on March 23, 1998 and called her “the love of his life.”
Roy was founder and pastor of “The Church of God” in Fond du Lac from 1969 to 1972. He was widely known as “Roy,” “Jim” or “Preacher.” Roy was known among friends and family as a talented tenor. In his younger years, he traveled and performed with a Gospel quartet.
He worked hard and played hard. Roy was known for his joke-telling. You heard a joke if you wanted to or not. Roy never met a stranger. Roy was an avid boater and member of the Fond du Lac Boat/Yacht Club. He also enjoyed bowling and golf.
Roy was employed at Mercury Marine as a die caster until his retirement.
Roy is survived by his wife Luci; children April (Arturo) Flores, David (Gea) Myers, Paul Myers, Mary Jo (Gary) Kassel, Crystal (Mark) Emmer, and Destiny (Timothy) Malcom; step-children James (Heather) Freiberg, Brett (Paula Jo) Freiberg, Shannon (Tony) Inosencio and Robert (Tammy) Mcauley; 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his first wife, Roy was preceded in death by children Pamela Joy Myers, Jennifer Lynn Myers, Kim Marie Lindsey and nine siblings.
Roy’s family invites relatives and friends to Community Church in Fond du Lac, N6717 Streblow Drive, on Saturday, August 8th for visitation at 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Roy will be laid to rest in Estabrooks Cemetery.
