Grothman Leads Entire Bipartisan Wisconsin Delegation in Urging FEMA to Assess Fox Valley Tornado Damage

Wisconsin’s entire congressional delegation is asking FEMA to conduct a preliminary assessment of damage from last month’s destructive tornado in the Fox Valley.

Congressman Glenn Grothman of Wisconsin’s Sixth District led the bipartisan delegation in asking FEMA to work with Wisconsin Emergency Management on the assessment.

The EF-3 tornado struck the Appleton, Menasha, Neenah and Fox Crossing areas on July 27th, 2026.

The tornado was on the ground for more than 20 minutes, traveled about 12 miles and reached nearly a mile in width. Estimated winds were between 136 and 165 miles per hour.

More than 30-thousand homes and businesses lost power, while numerous structures were heavily damaged or destroyed.

The congressional delegation says a timely damage assessment is an important first step toward securing federal assistance for affected families, communities and local governments.

Governor Tony Evers has declared a state of emergency, while Neenah, Menasha and the Town of Grand Chute have also issued emergency or disaster declarations.
