Packers play “One of their worst games in years” in front of national audience Thursday night

The Packers were beaten by Atlanta 35-to-14 Thursday night, September 24, 2026 at Lambeau Field, dropping Green Bay to 1-2 on the season.

The loss also ended the Packers’ streak of 13 consecutive home-opening victories.

While Green Bay scored first, Atlanta retaliated by scoring 27 unanswered points and controlled much of the game.

The Falcons piled up 498 yards of offense, including 242 yards on the ground compared to the Packers 17 rushing yards.

Jordan Love threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns, but completed only 28 of 53 passes and threw an interception.

The loss comes after the Packers entered the game one-and-one but already ranked near the bottom of several important statistical categories. Through two games, Green Bay had the fewest rushing yards in the NFL, the league’s lowest third-down conversion rate and the most accepted penalties.

Those problems continued Thursday night, particularly the running game and third-down offense. The Packers converted six of 15 third downs against Atlanta and were out-possessed by more than 14 minutes.

Reaction on social media showed widespread disdain for the team with many saying the Lambeau Letdown was one of the worst performances in years, with some comparing this team and coaching staff to the losing teams of the 70s and 80s.

Some social media quotes include,

I’ve seen more physical play during a soccer match.

At least we didn’t blow a double digit lead.

Thank goodness for the Brewers.

1971 called and wants it’s Packers back.

Finally! A game where the refs aren’t being blamed for the loss.

The Packers now get an extended break to try and figure something out with their next game being against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, October 4th.
