Alice A. Kinley

Alice Ann Kinley, age 102, of Chilton, died on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Century Ridge in Chilton.  Alice was born on September 24, 1916 in the town of Chilton to Arthur and Flora (Graf) Mortimer.  She married Forest E. Kinley from Chicago on August 1, 1964 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Chilton.



Alice attended grade school in Chilton and graduated from Chilton High School.  She started her teaching career by spending one year at Kaukauna Teachers Training and earned a life certificate to teach grades 1-8 in rural schools.  Alice taught several years and really enjoyed working with the young children.



Alice decided to further her education in teaching and attended Oshkosh State College where she received a degree in elementary education.  She taught school for 39 years and 23 of that was with the New Holstein Public Schools.



Alice was a lifelong member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Chilton and a life member of the Calumet Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.  She was also a lifelong member of the Ledge View Nature Center and also served on the library board and volunteered with the American Red Cross and the Ebenezer United Church of Christ.



Alice enjoyed flower gardening and love all of nature.  She loved to play Bridge and Sheepshead, enjoyed cooking and baking and loved to dance.  Most of all, Alice enjoyed a jolly good time with family and friends.



Survivors include several nieces and nephews who adored her: Jerry (Ursula) Daun, David (Jane) Daun, Richard Daun, Alice Daun, Lynn Rollmann, Mary Zirbel, Jim (Marla) Vogel, Patty Vogel, Harry “Gene” (Audrey) Kinley, Jr., Joann Schneider, Stan Sterkel, Loretta (Richard) Scherer,  Rosemary Daun; and her dear friends.



Those who preceded her in death are her parents and husband; sisters: Dorothy Daun, Kathryn Vogel Larson and Hazel Mortimer; brothers: Walter and David Mortimer; two brothers-in-law: Herbert Vogel and Elmer Daun; and two sisters-in-law: Gen Mortimer and Frances Mortimer; nephews: Ken Daun, Tom Mortimer, Jerry Rollmann, Ken Vogel & Tim Zirbel; and a niece: Charmaine Sterkel.
