Kathleen A. Jones
Kathleen A. “Kathy” (Sexton) Jones, 72, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday,
December 29, 2018 at St. Agnes Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born
in Springfield, Ill. on November 29, 1946, a daughter of James and Rose
(Liston) Sexton. On Saturday, January 11, 1969, Kathleen married Raymond B. “Bernie”
Jones in Springfield, Ill. He preceded her in death on Tuesday, September 25,
1990.
Kathy’s contagious laugh and generous heart made everyone
want to be around her. Her home was always open to anyone who needed a place to
go – with a cup of coffee available at Kathy’s kitchen table when they pulled up
a chair for a chat. Her infamous Christmas Eve parties were the perfect example
of the way in which Kathy united her friends and family– she was the glue that
held us all together.
Kathy was a long-time employee of the Fond du Lac School
District in various positions, a former member of the Pregnancy Health Line, a
member of Sigma, a volunteer for Welcome Wagon, Marriage Encounter, and Big
Sisters. Kathy enjoyed traveling, lunching, and nights out with her friends.
Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her children, Brian
(Gretchen) Jones, Jeff (Ryan) Jones, and Travis (Stefanie) Jones. Kathy will
also be adoringly remembered as “Grandma Kathy” by her five grandchildren,
Easton, Katie, Henry, Mac and Teagan. Kathy is further survived by two sisters,
Liz Patterson and Patty (Larry) Sweeney; and two brothers, Jeff (Debbie) Sexton
and Greg (Cheryl) Sexton. Kathy will be forever remembered by her
sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family
and dear friends. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Rose
Sexton; her husband, Bernie Jones; two daughters, Kori and Crissy Jones; a son,
Kevin Jones; and a brother, Jimmy Sexton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kathy and
Bernie Jones Family Legacy Fund at the Fond du Lac Area Foundation, 384 N. Main
Street #4, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin 54935.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 2,
2019 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at
Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way in Fond du Lac. A visitation at
church will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until the time of the service.
Cremation has taken place and inurnment in Shrine of Rest Mausoleum; Ledgeview
Memorial Park Cemetery will take place at a later date.
