Victor John
Lehner, 94, a resident of
passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014.
Vic was born
January 11, 1920 in
a son of the late Gregory and Louise Guenther Lehner.
Victor was a
1937 graduate of
in varsity basketball. After graduation
he played hockey with the
Bears.
On June 29,
1946 he married Marie McCabe at
Catholic Church,
Victor
enlisted in the United State Army in January of 1942. In May of 1942 he was
sent to
arriving in

After 4 years of serving his country, Victor was honorably discharged as Second
Lieutenant with the Transportation Corps. In December of 1944, he left for
Guiney, and participated in the Philippine invasion in January of 1944, D +
1day. He then served eight years in the United Sates Army Reserve. In 2012

He was a
member and officer of several local golf and bowling leagues for over 25 years
and was elected to the Fond du Lac Bowling Hall of Fame in 1983, the first year
of its’ existence, and was honored to bowl on local television. Victor
was a life-time member at St. Mary’s Church, Holy Family Parish and served as
an usher for over 50 years. Mr. Lehner was employed all his life as a tool
& die maker, 20 years at Tobin Tool & Die and 20 years at Wells Mfg., retiring
in 1982.
Vic had a
special bond with his cribbage buddies for many years and often pegged the
winner.
Vic was a
sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching and following the Milwaukee Brewers.
Survivors
include three daughters, Kathy (Dave) Simon of Fond du Lac and their sons, Jeff
and Mark, Peggy (Mike) Grater of Fond du Lac and their sons, Jim (Sara) and
Kevin (Kathryn) and daughter Katie (Brett) Mentink and Mary (Albert) Izzo of
Henderson, NV; two sons, Jeff (Linda) Lehner of Fond du Lac and their
daughters, Traci (Leland) Haskins and Cherie (Gary) Shirkey and Jim Lehner of
Oshkosh and his son Justin and daughter Kelly (Adam) Bartel; nine great-grandchildren,
Maria, Matthew, Megan and Hudson, Breahna and Madden and Chloe, Olivia and Levi
and Molly and Lola; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded
in death by his wife Marie on August 3, 2004; two grandsons Brian Simon and
Daniel Lehner; and his sister Marge (Vern) Eilers.
