70 Employees to be Out of Work When Silgan Containers Closes Waupun Plant
The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development says 70
people will lose their jobs in Waupun this fall when Silgan Containers closes its
metal container manufacturing facility. The main plant at 505 Libby Street
dates back to 1917, and has been under operation by Silgan since 1987. Silgan
had informed employees June 3rd that the facility would be closing.
The layoffs are expected to take place on November 8th when the
plant closes. Online records from the DWD show 15 “Can Line Mechanics” will be out
of work when the plant closes, along with several others.
