Chilton Man Sentenced to Prison for Exporting Weapons Overseas

A Chilton man was sentenced Monday to two years in federal
prison for exporting weapons to Australia. 59-year-old Andy Huebschmann pleaded
guilty to one charge of violating the Arms Export Control Act and was sentenced
to the 24 months in prison, followed by a year of extended supervision. He is
also required to pay a $15,000 fine.

Prosecutors say Huebschmann admitted to manufacturing
numerous firearms and related parts for an Australian criminal and gun enthusiast,
including rifle components and frames that could be assembled into completed pistols.

The charge carried up to 20 years in prison. Judge William
Griesbach said Huebschmann was very cooperative with authorities and there is a
“low likelihood” he will re-offend. However, the Judge said that due to the “extremely
dangerous nature of the crime”, some punishment was required.
