FDL School Board Continues Work on District Budget

The Fond du Lac School District continues work on the
2019-2020 district budget. The School Board held a public hearing on the budget
prior to their regular meeting Monday night, where members of the community
were invited to learn more about the spending plan and share their opinions on
it.

District Superintendent Jim Sebert tells us the district
is still waiting on a few key pieces to be finalized – including their “third
Friday” enrollment count, property value information, and a final total for the
amount of state aid the district will receive. Even with those few missing
pieces, Sebert says the projected mill rate should be positive for taxpayers in
the community. “The mill rate that we are estimating at this point – that’s
inclusive of the referendum and everything within the district budget – is an
increase of 32 cents,” Sebert said. “It’s a better day than we had anticipated,
and has the potential to be better than that with an increase in property values.”
Sebert says the board is excited for what the budget will “allow us to continue
to do for our kids and for our staff and for the school district and community.”
