A vacant home was destroyed by fire in the City of Fond du
Lac early this (Saturday) morning. Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue was called to a
home in the 200 block of west Arndt Street just before 3 AM for the report of
the fire.
A news release says firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy
fire in the back of the home. Crews determined the home was vacant, and were
able to put out the fire, but not before the house sustained “substantial
damage”.
Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue received mutual aid from firefighters
from surrounding communities, along with assistance from Alliant Energy, the
American Red Cross and Fond du Lac Police. No firefighters were injured while fighting
the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
