Four Offenders Receive Charges For Violating “Safer At Home”

Local authorities have warned businesses that they would  uphold the law when it comes to businesses violating the “Safer At Home” order issued by Governor Evers. Now, after only a week since the order was issued, Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney has filed charges against a number of people for violating the order. 

The first charges were against three women who ignored the order at Sunset on the Water. Maria Katris, who owns Sunset, was working the kitchen area while another employee, Jamie Bray, worked the bar. At the time, there were more than a dozen people inside. A third female, Michelle Matteson, was sitting in the dining room, where she admitted to eating her meal while sitting at the table. Charges will be filed against Katris and Bray, with Matteson receiving a summons. 

A fourth offender, Brad Lenz, is also set to receive a misdemeanor charge for operating an AirBNB that allowed a pool to be used. The guests at the home, from Illinois, said they were told by Lenz that the pool could be used, and in fact said the only reason they rented the home was to use the pool. 

All four of the violators are scheduled to appear in court May 8^th, with the charges carrying a maximum of 30 days in jail, a $500 fine, or both.
