Groups Combine Efforts To Create Fuel Additives
Teams from UW-Madison and Great Lakes Bioenergy are looking into new research that could turn wood waste and other organic bioproducts into fuel additives.
Timothy Donohue with Great Lakes Bioenergy says this is different from simply turning that biomass into ethanol. “So this is not a replacement for ethanol per se but it’s the fill the other part of the fuel or chemical portfolio that we currently get from a barrel of oil.”
The new chemical process could open up new ways to reduce the use of crude oil and other petroleum based products.
