Salvation Army Brown Bag Lunch Program Expecting Large Numbers

The Fond du Lac Salvation Army free summer brown bag lunch program could set yet another record this year. 

Coordinator Barb Thill tells us the program has grown quite a bit since it began in 1993 – with just about two-thousand meals served. She says “last year we ended up with 17, 571. We had days where we were doing eight-hundred sandwiches. So it takes a lot of things to pack these lunches.”

Thill adds that “we could always use more volunteers and we can always use more snacks. Right now, we’re pretty well set for peanut butter and jelly. But we need snacks and drinks, like any kind of pouches, juice boxes, little bitty jugs. Anything like that we can use.”
Many of the lunches go to feed students would receive free or reduced lunches during the school year. The program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays until August 23^rd.
