School Start Discussion
Fond
du Lac Schools Superintendent Jim Sebert says it will be interesting to see
whether state legislators repeal the September 1st school start date. He says
the District already has a number of programs and activities that start in
August. He says at the high school things start early in August with some
sports, marching band and the high school musical practice. He says on the other hand if school gets out
earlier it could affect things like advance placement testing that is done in
May. He says those tests are usually in the first two weeks in May and kids
need time to get ready for those. If the start date is repealed it would be up
to school districts when to begin school after the summer. He says they would
get all their stakeholders involved in that discussion.
