Take Back Day Saturday

With 10 Drug Drop Boxes located across Fond du Lac County there are plenty of locations for people to drop off their old or unwanted prescription drugs. For that reason there is no need to have central collection points for tomorrow’s Take Back Day that will be held across the state. North Fond du Lac Police Chief Darren Pautsch says it is important to reduce the accessibility of old prescription drugs. He says 80 percent of heroin users started out with an addiction to prescription opioids. He says his department was among the first to offer a drug drop box. He says after the initial novelty they figured collections would drop off, but that hasn’t been the case. Police departments in Fond du Lac, Campbellsport, Ripon, Waupun, Oakfield, and Rosendale also have drug drop boxes. Agnesian HealthCare also has drug drop boxes at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, Ripon Medical Center and Waupun Memorial Hospital.
