Witness Talks About State Troopers Attack
One of the two witnesses who intervened in a State Trooper’s attack in Dodge County this week got to tell his tale. The trooper tried to pull over a Menomonee Falls man on Highway 33 Tuesday. The man put his car in reverse and crashed into the trooper’s cruiser, got out of his car and tried to attack the trooper while the officer was still buckled up in the squad car. That’s when two witnesses stopped to help the trooper. Rick Rogowski of Hustisford blocked the suspect vehicle from leaving then got out of his car and wrestled with the 21-year-old suspect. He says the man was definitely agitated at the officer. He says he yelled at the man and the man turned on him and attacked him, which allowed the officer to get out of his vehicle. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says normally they don’t encourage residents to get involved in something like that, but they are grateful to the two witnesses. The State Patrol is handling the investigation into the trooper’s assault while the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the vehicle collision. Charges are expected to be filed through the Dodge County District Attorney’s office.
