It’s the start of the WIAA State Football Championships today in Madison as teams in all seven divisions will compete for the gold trophy at Camp Randall Stadium over the next two days.
In Division Six today, St. Mary’s Springs takes on Eau Claire Regis. The Ledgers are seeking their third state title in a row and ninth WIAA title. A win would bring the total number of state championships won by the Ledgers to 17, when you add in the eight won by WISAA. Regis is back in the state title game after winning the Division 6 championship in 2016. The Ramblers have been to state six times as a member of the WIAA, winning the 2003 Division 7 title to go along with their 2016 championship. Regis also won WISAA titles in 1992, 1993 and 1999.
