NFL:
New England 31, Green Bay 17
–Aaron Rodgers threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns, but it was his counterpart Tom Brady who got the upper hand in the win Sunday night in Foxboro. Green Bay trailed 10-3 early, then tied the game on a short pass from Rodgers to Davante Adams with 4:49 left before halftime. New England then got a seven-play, 69 yard drive that led to a touchdown run from Cordarrelle Patterson to take a 17-10 advantage into the break. Rodgers connected with Jimmy Graham from 15 yards out on the first drive of the third quarter to tie it back up at 17, but a touchdown run from James White and a 55 yard pass from Brady to Josh Gordon – both in the fourth quarter – put the game away and sent the Packers to their second straight defeat.
Aaron Jones had 14 carries for 76 yards to lead the rushing attack, while rookie Marquez Valdez-Scantling had three catches for 101 yards in the loss to lead the Packer receivers.
The Packers are 3-4-1 and host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday
Chicago 41, Buffalo 9
–Jordan Howard ran for two touchdowns, and the Bears got two scores from their defense as they routed the Bills. Chicago is 5-3 and hosts the Lions on Sunday
Minnesota 24, Detroit 9
–The Vikings sacked Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford 10 times in the win. Minnesota is on their bye week next week and visits the Bears on November 18th.
College Football:
Big Ten:
The Badgers football team remains unranked in both national polls this week after their 31-17 win over Rutgers at Camp Randall Stadium. Wisconsin got 64 votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll and 37 votes in the Associated Press Top 25. In the AP Poll, Alabama remains at number one – with the Crimson Tide picking up all 60 first place votes this week. Clemson is number two, Notre Dame at three, Michigan at four and Georgia at five. Oklahoma, West Virginia, Ohio State, LSU and Washington State round out the top ten. The Badgers’ next opponent – Penn State, fell seven spots to number 21 in this week’s AP Poll after a 42-7 loss at Michigan. The Nittany Lions are 6-3 on the year. Kickoff for Saturday’s game is at 11 am.
Women’s College Basketball:
Wisconsin 79, UW-Oshkosh 51 (Exhibition)
–Marsha Howard had 16 points to lead the Badgers over the Titans at the Kohl Center in Madison. Erin Vande Zande had 8 points to lead Oshkosh in the loss – three other players had seven. Former St. Mary’s Springs athlete Melanie Schneider scored five points for the Titans.
NBA:
Milwaukee 144, Sacramento 109
–Giannis Antetokounmpo had a triple-double of 26 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists as the Bucks blew past the Kings at the FIserv Forum to improve to 8-1 on the season. Milwaukee made a franchise-record 22 three-pointers in the win. The Bucks start a four-game western road trip Tuesday night in Portland.
