Marquette Bounced
The Marquette Golden Eagles jumped out to a 17-4 lead against Notre Dame in the Big East Tournament but blew that lead and lost to the Irish 73-65 on Thursday night. The Golden Eagles now must wait for Selection Sunday with a 23-8 record.
Badgers Open Big Ten Tournament Play
The Wisconsin Badgers will play Michigan this afternoon in the 2nd round of the Big Ten Tournament this afternoon. The Wolverines advanced with a first round win over Penn State on Thursday. Coverage begins at 12:15pm with the tip set for 1:30pm on KFIZ. Illinois, Nebraska, and Iowa all won first round games on Thursday.
Green Bay Gets Post-Season Bid
The UW-Green Bay men’s basketball team has accepted an invite to play in the CollegeInsider,com Tournament. They will travel to Bradley for a first round game next Wednesday.
Bucks vs. Heat
The World Champion Miami Heat come to the BMO Harris Bradley Center tonight to take on the Bucks. Coverage begins at 7:10pm on KFIZ.
No Jackson…Jennings Visits Vikes
Free agent running back Stephen Jackson has decided to sign a thee-year, $12 million dollar contract with the Atlanta Falcons. The Packers had interest in the 29-year-old back to be the featured guy behind Aaron Rodgers. Meanwhile, WR Greg Jennings visited the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday. Jennings has found interest light on the free agent market after two injury plagued seasons. The Vikings did sign QB Matt Cassel to compete with Christian Ponder.
WBC
The Dominican Republic rallied for two runs in the 9th to beat the United States 3-1 in the World Baseball Classic. Ryan Braun went 0x4 in the game. Team USA must now beat Puerto Rico tonight to advance to the Semifinals in San Francisco.
All-FVA Wrestling
Three Fond du Lac wrestlers have garnered All-FVA Honors. Sophomore Shane LeBreck was 2nd Team All- League at 106 while fellow Sophomore Jason Toshner also makes 2nd Team at 170. Freshman Josh Adams was Honorable Mention All-FVA at 126.
All-FVA Swimming
A pair of Fond du Lac swimmers have been named to the All-FVA Boys Swimming and Diving Team. Junior Cameron Van Beek has been named 2nd team All-FVA in the 500 freestyle and Honorable Mention in the 200 freestyle. Sophomore Riley Pankratz was Honorable Mention in the 100 backstroke.
