–Emily Mueller had 22 kills, Brianna Freund 12 kills and 3 blocks, Virginia Arndt 23 assists, Katie Baker 20 digs

Winnebago Lutheran split in a triangular at Central Wisconsin Christian. CWC defeated WLA 2-0 (25-21, 25-19) and defeated Madison Abundant Life 2-0 (25-16, 25-18). Sam Bernhard had 14 kills, five aces and four blocks for the VIkings. Jena Krueger 11 kills and four digs, Hailey Becker had 38 assists.

Girls Golf:

WIAA Division One Sectionals (At Rolling Meadows Golf Course):

Fond du Lac’s Shefali Bhatt finished in a tie for 35th at sectionals with a 100. Kewaskum/Campbellsport placed seventh as a team with a 399. Alivia Wisnefski finished in a tie for 22nd individually with a 93 to lead Kewaskum/Campbellsport. Arrowhead won the sectional with a 309, while Kaukauna also qualified for state with a 341 in second place.

WIAA Subsectionals (At Oshkosh West):

Fond du Lac’s Kellie Hierl in #1 singles, Ally Gietzel in #3 singles and Jamie Ayer in #4 singles all advanced to sectionals on Thursday.

American League Wild Card Game:

NY Yankees 8, Minnesota 4

–The Twins raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but the Yankees answered with their own power hitting to win in the American League Wild Card game at Yankee Stadium. New York will take on Cleveland in the American League Division Series, game one is Thursday.

Tonight is the National League Wild Card Game, as Arizona hosts Colorado. Zack Greinke gets the start for Arizona, while Jon Gray goes for the Rockies. The winner takes on the LA Dodgers in the NLDS.

The Brewers announced Tuesday they have purchased a full ownership stake in the single-A Carolina Mudcats. The Mudcats are the Brewers affiliate in the Carolina League that is based in Zebulon, North Carolina. 2017 was the first season the Mudcats were affiliated with the Brewers, after being an affiliate of Cleveland since 2012. They went 73-65 last season, missing the playoffs by one game.
