County COVID Numbers Show Improvement Tuesday

If it’s all about the numbers, the COVID-19 numbers in Fond du Lac County were at least showing some small improvements Tuesday afternoon. There were no new hospitalizations reported, while another 121 cases had been classified as released or recovered. Active cases dropped by almost 100, and there were almost 170 negative tests processed. There were 31 new positive tests reported, bringing the county total to 2.533.  

Statewide, the numbers were not as good. For the first time ever, there were over 850 hospitalized for COVID-19 patients on Tuesday. DHS reporting there were 853 hospitalized, 71 more than Monday and 207 more than a week ago. 261 patients were in intensive care. Wisconsin hospitals are now using 80 percent of available beds. The Department of Health Services reported 18 additional deaths to bring the statewide death toll to 1,399 and the seven-day average of deaths to just over 14 – the highest ever. DHS confirmed 2,020 new coronavirus cases, with just over 24,500 cases considered active. The rate of those considered “recovered” now sits at 81 percent.
