Thomas J. Webb
Thomas J. Webb passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 while residing at the St. Agnes Hospice Home of Hope.
Tom was born in Fond du Lac, WI on June 10, 1930 to the late Harold and Alice (Smith) Webb. He spent his grade school years in Eden, WI where he attended Jackson County School and Eden Village School. The family later moved to Fond du Lac where he attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School. In 1948, he graduated from St. Mary’s Springs Academy and then went on to St. Norbert College for two years before joining the Army. Tom honorably served his country in the 10th Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas and in the 656th Engineer Battalion (Topo) in Schwetzingen, Germany. After returning home from the service, he enjoyed a 23-year career at Mercury Marine, working in the chemical lab, quality control and the production scheduling departments.
On February 7, 1959 he married the love of his life, Donna Blatz. For 60 years, they resided in Fond du Lac at the same home on Oaklawn Avenue, where they raised their two sons, Pat and JP. Tom (Skeeter) always enjoyed sports. As a youth, he participated in football, baseball, basketball and softball. His later years were spent on the sidelines cheering for his grandchildren. Jessica and Andrew held a special place in his heart; Tom and JP put on many miles to attend countless baseball, basketball and soccer games.
His other hobbies included working with numbers, tracking stocks, researching the family genealogy and traveling to visit family and friends.
Tom was a devout Catholic who lived his faith. He remained active in his parish, serving Mass at St. Mary’s, St. Joseph’s and Holy Family Catholic Church for much of his life. He was a humble man who loved his family and treasured the many friendships he made that have lasted a lifetime. He respected life and supported many charities and organizations dedicated to helping those less fortunate.
Survivors include his son Patrick (Karen); grandchildren, Jessica (Ben) Patterson; Andrew (fiancé Kelsey Engelke); great-grandchildren Harper and Aubrey Patterson; sister Mary (Dan) Schilling; brother John (Virginia) Webb; sisters-in-law Joyce Gross; Gloria (Gerald) Schumacher; Jeanne Norenberg;
