Alfred C. Williams

Alfred C. Williams, 85, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born September 24, 1935 to the late Irvin and Ruth (Sackey) Williams in Flint, MI.

Al married Carolyn K Doolan on June 6, 1956 in Fond du Lac and had five children. She preceded him in death. Al then married Helen E. (Schemenauer) Horne on July 5, 1985 in Fond du Lac.

Al graduated from Goodrich High School in 1953. He worked two years on the Soo-Line Railroad. He served four years in the US Navy. Al then worked for Mercury Marine as a supervisor for over 35 years retiring in 1998.

After retirement, he mixed business with pleasure and worked at Oakgreen Golf Course for nearly 20 years; he loved to golf but never had a hole-in-one. Al had many hobbies and interests which included square dancing, all sports, fishing, bowling, painting, photography and woodworking. He was a member of the FDL Society of Model Railroad Hobbyist organization.

Al is survived by his wife, Helen; four children, Kerry (Eric) Hilton, Ken (Cherri), Kris and Konni (Jeff) Hibicke; daughter-in-law, Holly Williams; three stepchildren, Theresa (Gordon) Loehr; Patrick (Gina) Horne and Mark (Norma) Horne; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings, Don, Jerry, Sue and Nancy; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; his parents; one son, Kevin and one step son, Michael Horne.

Services: Al’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at BVM Presentation Church, 705 Michigan Avenue in North Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM following the visitation. Cremation will follow traditional services. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Masks will be required and social distancing encouraged.
